Count me in, as well. It is often the "amateurs" who are on the front lines and who have the opportunities to directly show God's love.
Many are interested in helping - those who believe in "Compassionate Conservatism" or in "Giving a Hand Up, not a Hand Out," or "Teaching a Man to Fish" - but they don't always know how to take that first step. In our town, the police department provides a list of volunteer opportunities that are not only local, but that use a wide variety of talents and interests.
Do you want a blessing?
My experience has been that the brief prayer, "Lord, show me someone I can help today" is always answered. As long as I follow through with a cheerful heart, I am blessed indeed.
Go for it! Go for Him!
