When John poked his head above space and time and caught a glimpse of the future as God sees it, it was overwhelming. The Book of Revelation, wherein John recounts what he saw, can have the same effect on us. Take a deep breath. Give Revelation an unhurried and careful look. As the fog begins to lift, the vistas you see through John's eyes will fill you with awe and longing. Here are two sermons that will prepare you to hear and heed The Book of Revelation.
Overcomers, Get Ready! Late in life, the Apostle John encountered the Lord on the Island called Patmos. This island vision was followed by three more, a heavenly vision, a desert vision, and a mountain vision. John was given explicit instructions to write down his four experiences and report them to the churches of Asia Minor. The book of Revelation is the result of his obedience. His visions concern “events which must soon take place” (Revelation 1:1) that will have profound global impact. This 30 minute sermon introduces John’s consummate overcomers’ guide to prevailing in the coming crisis. Click here for a PDF of key sermon slides to go with the audio.
Finally, the Lamb Takes the Book! Early in John’s second vision, he witnessed an event in future history of singular significance. This event answers to the Lord’s prayer, hallmarks the end toward which creation groans, and heralds the fulfillment of Adam’s mandate. In Revelation 5, after an exhaustive cosmic search, One is found who is qualified to open the ultimate book. When the Lamb takes the book from the hand of God, a great celebration radiates from the throne of God, eventually drawing in every created thing to join in praising God and the Lamb. This 40 minute sermon offers you a front row seat to this sublime heavenly drama. Click here for a PDF of key sermon slides to go with the audio.
